Creating Niche Websites on Wordpress from Scratch using Amazon Products

Creating Niche Websites from Scratch

  • To create niche websites you are going to need a niche that you want to use so, hopefully, you have picked one. If not, please check out my Blog Post on this subject first : Creating Niche Websites to bring you Steady and Passive Income - This post should give you some ideas at what you want to tackle but, never fear, Niche Website creation is very inexpensive so don't spend too much time on selecting a Niche because I am confident you are going to make money with the Niche you use. A couple words of advice :
  • Try to find a Niche you know something about
  • Try to find a Niche that you like  (Don't create a website about Bulldogs if you don't like them, you will find no joy in your work!)
  • Take a look on Amazon and Aliexpress (for Shopify people) to see what kind of products are available (I once made a Niche website and came to find there was next to nothing that I could sell on the website that had to do with my Niche!)
  • Try not to pick a Niche that is over-saturated -Meaning everyone is selling it already. Saturated is OK because you want to people to want the products you are selling but steer clear of heavily searched items because the competition is too fierce and the sites you are competing with are too large ( ie: SmartPhones)
Niche finding does not have to be drawn out at all - Here are two excellent ways of finding your Niche quickly visit Ebay Best Sellers and Amazon Best Sellers - You are certain to find a unique yet hot selling item there in a few minutes! I check the Amazon Best Sellers all the time even if I am not researching a niche because an online Marketer should know what is selling and what the trends are because the trends and buying patterns are constantly changing online. When you are satisfied that you found a good niche, then head on over To Hostgator and look for a domain name you can buy for that niche.
I always buy domain names and I always shoot for .coms if I can get them (they are very inexpensive and good for a full year) but if you do not want to spend any money at the present time than you could experiment on Wordpress.com (choose free plan) or Blogger.com to get a feel for it but, as they say, nothing ventured nothing gained and an actual domain name looks far better to a customer that a freebie URL.
Okay so once you have your Domain bought and your domain loaded to your Web Host - remember if you do not have a web hosting company you can get everything done painlessly and inexpensively at Hostgator. If you don't have a hosting plan you can buy a plan from hostgator directly after buying your domain. The Baby plan is an excellent choice because you can add UNLIMITED Domains for one small fee! Once again for a fee of about 12 bucks per month you can have unlimited Domains added on for the same low price -imagine how many niche websites you can create! Now let us move on to creating a quick yet effective Niche Website -
  • After purchasing Domain - wait a few hours to for Website to be ready -This process is call Propagation. Learn about propagation and getting your new domain ready here when-will-my-domain-start-working-propagation
  • Install WordPress to your new domain
  • install Woocommerce Plugin to your word-press and set it up to your liking. Since we will not be carrying physical inventory this not much to set up as far as payments and such because all we are doing is selling - Once the sale is made, we take our commission and we conclude all business with that sale.
  • Set up your site in WordPress through the dashboard - Pick your theme - I always like to pick a woocommerce friendly theme and there are many to choose from. To pick (or change) and theme from the dashboard go to appearance/ themes or customize your site. On the themes screen up in the search box you can type in keywords like store or commerce and WordPress will show you loads of wonderful and free woocommerce (and Shopify) friendly themes. Pick one then install and activate it.
  • From here you want to create a couple of pages such as an about page and a contact page  and also a home page.
  • Set up your menu because Woocommerce automatically adds a bunch of menu pages that you really won't need for an affiliate website such as cart, checkout, and shop. The page we want to keep is the Shop page because this is were all of our products will be cataloged. Remove these unnecessary pages from your menu.
  • Create one more page - entitle the page Blog. This is one of the reasons I said to pick a niche that you now about or one that interests you. If you have no content to put on your blog page then leave it out of the menu and add it when you have some nice content to share about your niche.
  • Now you are ready to add some products to your site. From the dashboard at the top near the name of your site click New, then Product (you can also click products and add new product from the side dashboard menu)
  • When you have the new product page open you can then go to Amazon.com but you must have an Amazon associates account in place and you would do well to have sitestripe installed also. Please refer to blog post Selling Amazon Products on your website - How to make big Profits from Amazon for all the information you need to start selling Amazon products - you will be glad you did!
  • Sign up for Amazon Associates now - This is the affiliate program that you need -https://affiliate-program.amazon.com
  • On the Amazon Associates page you will see all the wonderful things Amazon has to offer you like Amazon Stores, Product Linking, Page Linking, and the great internet marketing invention Sitestripe!
  • On the Amazon Associates page click on tools (across the top menu) and select Sitestripe.  Turn the Sitestripe tool on and then , every time you open Amazon.com, you will see the Sitestripe bar at the top of the page. Sitestripe is the quickest and easiest way to link to any page on Amazon The SiteStripe toolbar will appear at the top of every page you visit on Amazon if you are logged in to Amazon using your same Amazon account as you use for Associates.
  • Add a Product  - Here is a method I employ (there are other ways of course) that works well for me. Let's say i want to sell action figures on my website as my niche - Marvel Action Figures - I now go to Amazon and search for my Marvel Action Figures and Voila! - a ton of results come up. I choose one and just copy the title and post it on my add a product page - Then I copy and paste the relevant description (do overdue it -keep everything neat and clean.

  • Take the description of your action figure and go to google and look for images of it - try to find Amazon images and also try to keep the photo to around 355 x 355 or thereabouts - It shouldn't be hard. save the photo to your documents then upload the photo to your media library.
  • Near the bottom of your product page click Set Featured Image and add your newly found image there. Make sure to name the image and add the description in the Alt text and description lines of the image-search engines like this very much.
  • Locate the  Tags section right above featured image on right side - add some appropriate tags for your product - between 4-8 is a good number
  • Above the Tags section on the product page find the Categories section. Be sure to always assign categories to your Products in the event that you might want to add different categories to different pages or posts. Call the Category what you like -something short and direct - use all lowercase letter - ex.- marvel action figures

Now go back to Amazon and on Sitestripe bar (top of Amazon product page) click Text and copy the link. Now go back to your Ass a product page and first click external/ affiliate product from the drop-down menu on Product Data section (near bottom of page) Then paste your Amazon affiliate link that you just copied into Product URL Box.
You can then add the price of the Item that Amazon is selling it for and then your listing should be completed and its time to preview and Publish this product!!!
Let us do a quick list of what we have done and what we have to do each time we add an affiliate product on our Woocommerce WordPress site.
  • Open Add a Product page on WordPress
  • Copy and paste Amazon listing title and whatever parts of the description you like to your Product page
  • Find a Picture of item and set featured image
  • Add appropriate Tags
  • Define a Category for the product
  • in Product Data - Make it an external. affiliate product and copy and paste text link from Amazon site stripe in box
  • Preview your product-make sure it looks nice and complete and Publish it
  • Then you can begin to add more products as you see fit -grouping them in categories to be displayed throughout your site - you might want to add some DC Superhero action figures-maybe some star wars action figures - if Amazon stocks it then you have full reign to sell it on your affiliate website and collect commissions
You are now ready to build and maintain a profit- making Niche website - Be creative-add good content -back this up with a traffic grabbing Facebook fan page and you now have a store open for business 24 hours a day! When you are comfortable doing this you can start creating Niche websites in a few hours and build a fleet of excellent money making sites that require very little attention when they are up and running.
