Submitting your sites and Posting to the major Social Media Sites

It is really hard to even imagine how many people are on the internet at any given moment. There are so many people -active users that are busy shopping, posting, searching, reading, writing-you name it and it is being done in great abundance on the internet 24 hours a day, Having this knowledge in mind - It is important that, if you are selling product or want visitors to your website or blog, that you get the word out to as many internet outlets as possible. Social Media sites are dominating the internet and they are here to stay - if you want sales and business then you simply must establish a social media presence. I can speak for myself as a full-time internet marketer that I am constantly placing my products and content on as many social media outlets as possible as well as making sure my content is optimized for the search engines and getting seen by Google - Once you have this knowledge -everything will be a nice routine for you and you will be seeing sales, and visitors aplenty. In this post I want to give you some key information about how to get your present and future websites, products, and content noticed. First let us look at the Big Guns of Social Media with some quick instructions

Twitter

  1. Sign in to your Twitter account.
  2. Type your Tweet into the box at the top of your Home timeline, or click the Tweet button in the top navigation bar.
  3. Make sure your Tweet is fewer or exactly  140 characters.
  4. Click the Tweet button to post the Tweet to your profile.
  5. You will immediately see your Tweet in the timeline on your homepage.
  6. If you want to direct twitter users to a topic such as Social Media -Then you would add a hashtag in front of the phrase or word - ex. #socialmedia. This is important because when a user is searching for social media (or whatever you hashtagged) all the tweets bearing that hashtag will be displayed.
  7. Accumulate twitter followers by tweeting about current events, pop culture, or whatever your website or blog is about. Followers will come if you are tweeting consistently and using good hashtags, If you are selling Coffee Pots then write your tweet and hashtag #coffeepots.
  8. You can follow any account and you can like, retweet and favorite tweets from other twitter users. You can add pictures and videos to your tweets also
  9. Twitter is a living internet Behemoth - you cab find out the latest news, the hottest trends, or anything at all you have interest in on Twitter so open a Twitter account, make a professional looking profile with a nice pic and start tweeting and advertising!!!

FACEBOOK

**These instructions will be about Creating a Facebook Page only - Advertising with Facebook Ads is another matter entirely- and for a separate post
  1. How to Create a Facebook Fan Page for Your Blog - This is one of the first things that I do after I create a blog or website and it is a terrific form of advertising and, like Twitter, completely free!
  2. Go to https://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php (or just go to your Facebook page and click the arrow to the far right -a menu will pop up then click Create Page)
  3.  From here you choose from 6 different platforms then give your page a name a pick a category that your business falls under. I like to keep the name similar to my website's name.
  4. Now, you should have a Facebook page created in just a few minutes time. From here you will be prompted to enter a profile picture and also a cover picture. Facebook gives you guidelines for the pictures but they seem to make any picture you put up there look great so select these pictures (you can always change them later) and now you have a functional Facebook page.
  5. You should add some content to your page at this point. If you have a blog you can just copy and paste some blog posts to your page and add more images if you like. You can set up a linking website or utilize the Call to Action button to notify people of upcoming events. You can take Twitter posts and add them nicely to your Facebook page -Facebook really makes any old content look super great.
  6. Finally you want to get the word out about your page - You can alert family and friends to visit your new page and like the page -and you can like your own page too and I recommend doing it because the more likes you get, the more buzz comes around your page!

STUMBLEUPON

Stumbleupon is a social media network that helps you find things that interest you across the Web. It is a discovery engine of entertainment that recommends photography, art, humor, fashion, sports,pop culture etc in a lavish way.  Stumbleupon finds and recommends web content to its users. Its features allow users to discover and rate Web pages, photos and videos that are personalized to their tastes and interests using peer-sourcing. This is a wonderful place to get your content on. To submit a site, page, or blogpost to Stumbleupon just follow these steps:
  1. Visit the StumbleUpon website.
  2. Login to your account or create an account
  3. Click the Profile tab from the page that displays.
  4. Click the "Add a page" button
  5. Fill out the form (URL, Catergory, and add some tags relating to your post so that other users can find it)
  6. Click Save and there you have it - your content is now on Stumbleupon for the masses to see, like, and share.

TUMBLR

Tumblr is an awesome  microblogging and social networking website that I just love to post my content to. Tumblr  allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short-form blog and users can follow other users' blogs too. To submit your sites and content to Tumblr:
  1. Create or log-in to your Tumblr Account.
  2. Click the pencil symbol on the top right of the dashboard page
  3. choose what type of content you want to post (Text, photo, link, etc)
  4. Add your content and that quickly you have posted to Tumblr!
 

REDDIT

Reddit is an American social news cluster that has so many unique and interesting posts that one could easily spend hours on the site. It is also a fine web content rating, and discussion website. Reddit members can submit content, such as text posts or direct links. Registered users can then vote submissions up or down to organize the posts and determine their position on the site's pages. Submitting is easy.
  1. Create or log-in to your Reddit Account.
  2. Click submit a new link or submit a new post on the right hand side of page
  3. Add your content and a url if you wish and submit the post or link
  4. Don't overload Reddit with posts as they do not like that - one or two per day is a good idea
  5. Be sure to follow the Reddit rules and practice good reddiquette, as they say, and you will be good as gold on this fine social media platform.

Pinterest

Pinterest is a social network where users visually share, and discover new interests by posting (known as 'pinning' on Pinterest) images or videos to their own or other users boards ("boards" are a collection of 'pins,' usually with a common theme) and browsing what other users have pinned. Pinterest has alot of dedicated users and is a great place to get your sites noticed!
  1. Create or log-in to your Pinterest Account.
  2. Once that is done-create a good profile for your business
  3. Create a Board - If you have many websites, you can create many boards
  4. Start pinning posts, products, images that link to your website
  5. There are also some awesome Plugins on wordpress where you can quickly and/or automatically make beautiful pins to your Pinterest Boards -I will go into this on another post soon.
  6. Make you pins often and be thoughtful and creative.

Blogger

Blogger is not a social media site but a blogging site-however I wanted to list it here anyway because it is a powerful vehicle to get your sites(s) noticed and to bring you sales and traffic. Blogger is owned by Google so that is reason enough to open a blogger account. Blogger blogs get read and after you have an established blog you can monetize the blog with adsense (also Google owned) and you will see income coming your way. I primarily use Wordpress because for blogging, wordpress has no equal, but what I do is take the posts from my blogs and create a blogger blog so I am getting two huge audiences for my work.
Create a blog
  1. Sign in on create a new account with  Blogger.
  2. In the top left, next to "New blog" click the Down arrow .
  3. Click New blog.
  4. Enter a name for your blog.
  5. Choose a blog address, or URL.( You will have the options of buying a domain name through Google domains now, or later so you might want to see what names are available should you want to go that route)
  6. Choose a template.
  7. Click Create blog

Linkedin

LinkedIn is a social network for professionals. It has loads of users and you follow accounts and also gain followers of your own. Linkedin is a great marketing vehicle as you can make an awesome business profile and add links to your website(s) there plus you can make posts and submit articles which you can then share to facebook and twitter and others can also share.
To share a post:
  1. At the top of your homepage, click into the Share an article, photo, or update field.
  2. Type your post in the text box
  3. You can attach files such as PDFs, Word documents, and JPEG images.
  4. To attach a URL link, click the Link icon.

Google Plus

Once again -If Google is in it -you should be in it. google Plus is Google's very own Social Networking site and it is very, very good. It works like the other Big social media sites where you can network with others but here you work in Circles - Which are groups -such as friends, family, aquaintances. Google Plus is a very active community and, if you put some time in, you can get quite alot of people in your circles -reading your ads and supporting and sharing your blogs.
  1. Sign up for a Google Plus account (or log-in of course)
  2. Set up your account-Take your time-explore each of the items on the drop down menu on the left side and pay particular attention to your profile. It is also a good idea to put a professional or at least serious looking picture on your profile to show people you mean business!
  3. In your profile - introduce yourself as a internet marketer, webmaster or businessperson and be sure to enter your webites name and URL.
  4. Find anyone you can think of and add them to your circles. The more people the better.
  5. Start a collection -These Google Plus collections are awesome! You can make as many as you like and post whatever content you like
  6. Be active and build your network!
 So there you have it in straight English. If you already created a blog with WordPress then these social media giants will bring you traffic and, ultimately sales. Even if you are just promoting affiliate links or Amazon products without an active website-social media is where you want to be. There are other places to advertise, such as YouTube but that is a different procedure and the stuff of another article but, make no mistake, if making videos is in your wheelhouse-YouTube marketing is very effective.
So in closing -Be tactful, be tasteful, be thoughtful, and be Friendly and get your content out there for the world to see!
